Laser cleaning
What is laser cleaning and how does it work?
A pulsed laser removes rust, coatings and other surface buildup. The settings depend on the material underneath and what needs removing. We check the result on a small area first.
What can be removed?
We assess rust, paint, powder coat and other surface buildup for removal. The material, coating and condition determine whether laser cleaning is suitable.
Is it safe for valuable antiques and classic cars?
It depends on the material, its condition and the finish you want to keep. We test a small area before cleaning valuable parts. Send photos of any original paint, markings or details that need preserving.
How much faster is it than sanding or chemical stripping?
That depends on the coating, surface area and access. Thick coatings can take several passes. A test patch gives us a useful estimate of the time involved.
Does it produce waste?
Yes. The removed coating or corrosion produces dust that needs collecting. Waste handling depends on what was removed.
Laser welding
How does it compare to TIG or MIG?
Laser welding makes a narrow seam and can limit heat around the joint. Close-fitting joints are important. We’ll assess whether it suits the repair.
What materials can you weld?
Tell us the metal or alloy if you know it. Suitability depends on the material, thickness, joint and condition. We assess those details before confirming welding work.
Can you repair a damaged or broken weld?
Send photos of the damaged joint or part, along with its material if known and how it is used. We need to assess the damage before confirming whether a weld repair is practical.
Will the repair match the surrounding weld?
The appearance depends on the metal and the existing weld. If the match matters, send a close-up so we can discuss the finish before starting.
Can you come to my location?
Yes. We offer mobile cleaning and welding across Santa Cruz County and the Central Coast. Include your location with the project details. We’ll confirm power, access and working space when reviewing the job.
Practicalities
What area do you cover?
Santa Cruz, Capitola, Aptos, Watsonville, Scotts Valley, Ben Lomond, Boulder Creek, Monterey, Salinas, and the surrounding Central Coast. Larger mobile jobs further afield are considered case by case.
How long does a job take?
We’ll discuss timing when reviewing the job. The size, condition, access and work involved affect the estimate.
How is it priced?
Price depends on the size, condition and time involved. We quote the project when the work is clear. If it needs an hourly estimate, we’ll explain that before starting.
Do you take small jobs?
Yes. We welcome inquiries from individuals and businesses for single parts as well as larger projects. Send photos, approximate dimensions and a description of the work.
