Send photos
Send photos, approximate dimensions and what needs cleaning or repair. Include the material if known and your location for on-site work.
No visit needed at this stage.
Assessment
For cleaning, we test a small area to check the settings and finish. For welding, we assess the material, joint fit, damage and access before agreeing on the work.
We’ll discuss the method and price before starting.
The work
Cleaning is done in passes, with settings adjusted for the surface. Welding follows the joint preparation and repair approach agreed during assessment.
We’ll discuss timing when reviewing the job.
Inspection
Review the finished work with us, on site or before collection from the shop. We’ll discuss any preparation still needed before painting or further repair.
Let us know if painting, coating or further work will follow.
How laser cleaning works
The laser removes surface buildup in passes. Settings depend on the coating, the base material and the finish required.
- Selective absorption
- The surface material and coating respond differently to laser energy. We use a test patch to find settings that remove the unwanted layer.
- Short pulses
- The laser delivers energy in short pulses that remove material from the surface. Power, focus and speed need to suit the part.
- No contact
- Cleaning uses a laser beam, without brushes, blades or blasting grit.
- Dust extraction
- Extraction collects dust from the removed coating or corrosion. The material being removed determines how that waste must be handled.
